Service Project
Sus Manos Gleaners
(March 19, 2022, 9:00AM-10:30/11:00)
Sus Manos Gleaners is an organization that takes surplus fruits and vegetables and then dehydrates them. The dehydrated product is mixed into soup bases and fruit servings and is shipped all over the world to Christian ministries, who use this food to feed hungry people. So the surplus we have here in West Michigan can become essential food for others less fortunate then us.
What we will be doing is preparing excess produce form the area to be dried, which will be sent around the world to help Christian missions serve populations facing critical food shortages. Last year we chopped potatoes, beets, and carrots that were made into dried soup stock. Tasks include washing, sorting, and cutting vegetables, cleaning, moving, and stacking loaded trays into carts and getting them ready for dehydration.

Sus Manos Gleaners is located in a warehouse at 2464 Wilshere Drive in Jenison, near the corner of Chicago Drive and Port Sheldon Road. Right in our own collective backyards!
So, if you and/or your Cadet Club are interested in attending, let me know. We need to provide a number to them one week prior to the event.

Thank you for considering this, and I hope to see you there!
